Düsseldorf is home to a great mix of specialty coffee bars where skilled baristas serve top quality brews. Below you will find a selection of some of the best coffee shops where you can enjoy a perfect pour-over, espresso or batch brew in Düsseldorf. Prefer your coffee with (plant based) milk? They of course got you covered with flat white, latte or cappuccino as well.
If we would live in Düsseldorf No Worries Coffee would definitely be our favourite hang out for coffee during the weekend. We enjoyed an excellent pour-over made with beans from April coffee roasters in Copenhagen. And as Dutchies, we were very happy to see that there was also a wide range of coffee beans from Sprout coffee roasters in Eindhoven. There are other special guest coffees on a regular basis, so you will always be surprised with new flavour profiles.
Weird Space Café has two outlets in the city of Düsseldorf, one in the area of Unterblik and one in the area of Friedrichstadt, which is the one that we visited. This location also has a co-working space with four options to choose from, ranging from 1 hour for free, up to a day ticket for €19,50 including 2 drinks. Their menu is very extensive with many types of (iced) coffees and hand brews, matcha and hojicha. Together with our filter batch brew of the day we had delicious cookies, one tahini plum sesame and one matcha yuzu. We need to come back one day to try their sourdough sando's because they looked mouth-watering!
We drank a delicious batch brew at Stoak in pretty handmade ceramic coffee cups. Seated at the bar by the window, you have a lovely view over the green terrace with bamboo plants, which makes you feel like you are somewhere else, instead of in the heart of Düsseldorf.
The Italian ricciarelli almond cookies tasted perfect with the filter coffee at Jaenner Modern Coffee. This coffee bar belongs to a coffee roastery called Lightroast, which are a fifteen-minute walk from each other. As the name suggests, they mainly focus on lightly roasting their coffee beans to preserve the subtile and unique flavour of each type of bean.
